Woman of the Year first begun in 1985 to honor a woman who has contributed significantly to the community of Nacogdoches in her career and civic and community service involvement. In addition, AAUW presents 4-5 Special Service Awards in different areas, including Fine Arts, Education, Athletics, Community Service, Health Services, Historical Preservation, and more.
